PRESS RELEASE
ENGLISH LADIES' GOLF ASSOCIATION
CLAIRE LILLEY APPOINTED ELGA START MANAGER
The English Ladies' Golf Association has appointed Claire Lilley to
the newly created position of Start Manager.
Claire, who graduated in Sociology and Social Policy from York
University, is currently employed as ELGA's Tournament Secretary, a
post she has held since January 2000. She is a member of Sicklehome
Golf Club, has represented Yorkshire at Junior and Second Team level
and plays off a handicap of 4.
ELGA's successful application to Sport England for lottery funding for
its World Class Start Programme, which will support the existing World
Class Performance & Potential Programmes, has necessitated the
creation of the post which is to be funded entirely through Sport
England.
Claire's role will be to manage arrangements for all ELGA's Select,
Regional, and Birdie squads. She will provide support to all the
squad members and will also oversee the assessment programmes through
which new golfing talent is identified.
